California Food Policy Advocates

Program Area(s)
Description

California Food Policy Advocates (CFPA) is a statewide organization that focuses on increasing low-income Californians’ access to nutritious, affordable food. It produces research, publications, a comprehensive legislative agenda, and convenings that work to ensure that a nutrition safety net remains in place for vulnerable children and families. Examples of CFPA advocacy successes include adding 350,000 students to California’s school breakfast program; ending fingerprinting as part of the CalFresh application process; and using Medi-Cal data to automatically enroll 240,000 students in a free school meals program.
