The California Alliance for Arts Education is a statewide policy and advocacy organization that works to ensure that all California students, regardless of family income level, receive equitable access to arts education. One successful Alliance policy campaign clarified that federal Title I funding to improve student learning in high-poverty schools can be used for arts education. Another soon-to-be-published policy paper from the Alliance recognizes the alignment between the goals of educational equity advocates and proponents of arts education. The Alliance works in Sacramento to affect state policy and it manages a network of grassroots advocates throughout the state as many school budgets and priorities are set locally.
