Brava! for Women in the Arts

Program Area(s)
Description

At its Mission District theater facility, Brava! for Women in the Arts produces arts programs and shares its rentable space with other nonprofits. Sub-tenants include three arts education programs with which Brava! has united to create the Mission Academy of the Performing Arts (MAPA). Over each two-semester academy, an estimated 50 youth will benefit from in depth study of two of the three art forms taught through MAPA — those being Brazilian drumming, contemporary theater, and Mexican dance. Additionally, all MAPA participants will receive theater technology training. As they master skills and prove their responsibility, they will be eligible for hire as crew on Brava! productions.
