Glide Foundation is a social-justice service organization affiliated with Glide Memorial United Methodist Church in the Tenderloin. It provides free meals, job training, and childcare to more than 10,000 people each year. In 2017, W&EHF helped Rabbi Michael Lezak take a post at Glide Foundation in order to help deepen interfaith partnerships. In his inaugural year, Rabbi Lezak organized a Passover service for Glide’s clients; led a trip to the Legacy Museum in Alabama; and began a weekly challah-baking program. In 2018, his work will be expanded with events inspired by Jewish holidays and classes to help Jewish leaders understand the root causes of poverty. Rabbi Lezak will also teach at Glide’s Sunday Celebrations and lead a second visit to the Legacy Museum.
