| Description | Blue Bear School of Music teaches blues, folk, rock ’n’ roll, and other popular music styles. The school’s Fort Mason location, however, limits the ability of residents from the southeastern sector of the city and the Tenderloin to participate. To compensate, Blue Bear operates various outreach programs, bringing services to the city’s less-affluent neighborhoods and to at-risk and troubled youth. Outreach programs include a digital studio at the Bayview Opera House, a vocal ensemble and rock band program for 4th and 5th graders at the Tenderloin Recreation Center, and a rock band program at SFUSD’s Academy of Arts and Sciences. Each of these programs is tailored to the age of the students and the setting. |
