Graduation rates from California’s community college system remain particularly low for former foster youth. In partnership with Laney Community College, Beyond Emancipation addresses this problem with their Bridge to Bridge Learning Community. The Community provides tailored support to students who grew up in the turmoil of the foster care system, helping them to succeed in their educational goals. Bridge to Bridge includes individualized academic advising, classes in personal development, coaching, and emergency financial assistance if needed. In 2014, the program helped over 80% of participants to maintain passing grades and transition to degree-applicable courses.
