This annual grant honors the legacy of giving from the Fund’s founders Walter & Elise Haas, providing general operating support to Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center, which works to preserve and enhance the ethnic, cultural and economic diversity of Bernal Heights and surrounding neighborhoods. They promote community action to build a just and equitable community for all and focus on the needs of people with low and moderate incomes. They develop affordable housing providing linguistically and culturally responsive services to youth and families, develop leaders and organize and empower members and allies to advocate for the needs of the community.
