Bay Area Parent Leadership Action Network
| Program Area(s) | |
| Description | Bay Area Parent Leadership Action Network (PLAN) develops the parent leadership needed to transform schools in high poverty neighborhoods. PLAN works with individual school communities and at the district- and state-level to advocate for the programs, practices, and resources that make a difference in East Oakland schools. Within the Oakland coalitions in which Bay Area PLAN participates, it noticed a lack of teachers from the most challenged schools. With Fund support, PLAN is implementing a Family Engagement Teacher Fellowship program as a means to build the participation of these teachers. It will provide teachers with support, connections to community organizations, and encouragement so they can advocate for under-resourced communities. |
