| Description | Anne Bluethenthal & Dancers develops challenging, original dance works. Pieces are aimed at bringing about social change and often are created in collaboration with non-dancers from the communities directly affected by the subjects explored. Anne Bluethenthal & Dancers has long taken poverty as a subject. Its continuing Tenderloin-based project, Skywatchers, connects company staff with housing, social service, and arts organizations to lead workshops, create original artworks, and present performances, literary readings, and film screenings by residents of supportive housing. This program shows commitment to the voices, ideas, and leadership potential of participants and offers a consistency that engenders trust. |
