Alameda County Bar Association Volunteer Legal Services Co.
Program Area(s) | |
Description | Alameda County Bar Association Volunteer Legal Services (VLSC) provides pro bono legal assistance to Alameda County’s low-income population, helping with child custody, bankruptcy, immigration, divorce, and eviction. In the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, VLCS found that legal service organizations were largely unprepared to launch a disaster-relief effort and help the affected secure critical FEMA benefits. In response, VLCS is developing systems that will allow attorneys to more effectively respond to victims’ legal concerns following a major disaster. |
