Be Counted! The Economic and Social Impact Study of California’s Nonprofit Sector
The Fund invites its grantees (and all California nonprofits) to participate in a new study being promoted by CalNonprofits that is collecting the characteristics and impact of California’s large and diverse nonprofit sector, highlighting the impacts nonprofits have on communities and their role as leaders of innovation.

To our knowledge, this will be the first report of its kind to examine the nonprofit sector’s scope, activities and economic impact in the state of California. While some regional research about nonprofits has been conducted, the present state of knowledge about the California nonprofit sector as a whole is extremely limited at best. Our study is designed to address this deficiency.
Led by researchers at the University of San Diego and funded by the Irvine Foundation, the Weingart Foundation and the Annenberg Foundation.
