The Kitchen: Slow Down, Jew Up

Program Area(s)
Description

The Kitchen is a faith-based community reinterpreting the synagogue for those interested in participating in Jewish experiences. It has grown to be a 300-member-family strong organization with a major focus on social justice. As part of its strong partnership with the Glide Foundation, it co-organized a trip to the Legacy Museum in Alabama, co-created a seder for Glide clients, and provides more than 100 volunteers to assist at Glide regularly. The Kitchen participants also advocate for criminal justice reform and partner with Bend the Arc and other Jewish social justice organizations on immigrant rights campaigns. It is a welcoming space for young adults, LGBTQ Jews, and others looking to opt in to Jewish life.
