Description

In 2015, Californians for Justice (CFJ) student leaders identified the resources low-income students of color most critically need to succeed academically. They concluded that teachers and the relationships between adult educators and students mattered the most. Based on this research, CFJ launched a three-year campaign advocating for investment in efforts to strengthen teacher-student interactions. In its launch year, CFJ student leaders conducted research to assess teacher retention and identify the factors that keep good teachers in Oakland public schools. This grant provides general operating support for CJF’s continued work in Oakland.
