World Arts West produces the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival plus other programs that benefit the Bay Area’s estimated 400 ethnic dance companies. Of the organization’s festival, The New York Times says, “No regular event… more effectively, more movingly, recommends this country’s diverse inclusiveness.” However, losing access to the Palace of Fine Arts Theater as a venue for several years caused World Arts West to face a decrease in revenue that continues to challenge its financial health. It now is back in the Palace of Fine Arts Theater, and support from the Fund helps to keep this cultural resource part of the Bay Area’s arts offering.
