| Description | Youth Speaks has been instrumental in building the spoken-word poetry movement among young people. It offers writing workshops during and after school, sponsors spoken-word clubs, and produces public events and competitions that bring local youth together across neighborhoods and socio-economic circumstances. Youth Speaks is running a capital campaign to develop a cash reserve to ease its transition to a new director when its founder retires in 2017. This grant from the Fund continues to support their arts education programs and assists with a marketing and communications drive in support of Youth Speaks’ 20th anniversary celebration and capital campaign. |
