SFUSD’s Future Dining Experience

The Future Dining Experience is a San Francisco Unified School District initiative to redesign student nutrition services, transform the dining experience for students, and create a financially stable nutrition operation. SFUSD collaborated with IDEO on this project, engaging over 1,300 community members to transform school nutrition in what is the largest public food service program in San Francisco. The initiative also plans to pilot and expand other promising ideas, including: grab-and go dinners for families; refreshing the appearance of cafeterias; integrating nutrition education with food service; and creating an equitable distribution system.
