Bay Area Parent Leadership Action Network

Program Area(s)
Description

Working primarily with East Oakland public schools, the Bay Area Parent Leadership Action Network (PLAN) trains and organizes low-income and immigrant parents to be active participants and leaders in their children’s school communities. PLAN trains partner schools’ parents, creates parent networks, and develops strong working relationships with school administrators to stabilize schools and create conditions for sustained change. It also works at the district, regional, and state levels to advocate for parent involvement, and to ensure that diverse parent voices inform education policies.
