| Description | WAGES helps low-income immigrant women to develop and operate cooperatively owned, ecofriendly house-cleaning businesses. In 2013, WAGES began developing a new kind of cooperative business in the food industry. It joined with La Cocina to launch this new enterprise, they selected a product line (paletas; traditional Mexican popsicles), and developed an initial business plan. This grant from the Fund supports the next phase of business development. Four to six low-income immigrant women will be the founding worker-owners of the paleta business, creating their own sustainable source of ongoing income. |
