In 2014, San Francisco WritersCorps will send seven professional writers into public schools, libraries, and other community-based sites to work with up to 1,000 students. Participating students will strengthen their written and oral language skills while expressing and refining their creative voices. WritersCorps focuses on serving high-risk and special-needs students from moderate- to low-income families, with workshop sites including San Francisco’s Youth Guidance Center. In addition to mentoring youth, WritersCorps teachers produce special projects such as readings, publications, recordings, exhibitions, and films.
