SFMusic Day Live + Free is a day-plus-an-evening festival that showcases the quality and diversity of Bay Area chamber music. Performances encompass baroque, classical, contemporary, jazz, and improvised forms. The organization’s 2013 festival, highlighting Latin American music, was held at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in San Francisco’s Civic Center neighborhood. Thirty-three ensembles performed, guests attended panel discussions and an array of performances, and an instrument “petting zoo,” enabled children to experiment with instruments. With the aim of continuing to diversify and expand appreciation for chamber music, the 2013 event highlighted Latin American composers and performers.
