Description

On a diverse and occasionally divisive campus, Berkeley Hillel provides over 3,000 Jewish students with a synagogue, community center, institution of Jewish learning, and hub for charitable activities. It has made service and social justice an integral part of the UC Berkeley experience. Through one new campus initiative, Ask Big Questions, Berkeley Hillel trains students to facilitate challenging conversation on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and personal beliefs. A New York Times opinion piece recognized this program as a means to repair civil discourse.
